To the religious general public.Last December 31, 2005, 992 Ifa Priests reunited in representation ofmost branches and religious Cuban families in the Temple-House located at Ave. 10 de Octubre # 1509 between Josefina and Gertrudis, Víbora,Municipe 10 de Octubre, Havana City, Cuba.

This ceremony was presided by the Ifá Priest Guillermo Diago "OgbeWeñe" and the Letter was drawn by the youngest priest.

Regent Divinity: Obbatalá, who represents Olodumare (The Supreme One) on Earth, thus he is considered Father of all Heads.
He also is theOrisha of Justice. He lives in high places. Pregnant women makesacrifices to him to assure having perfect and healthy children. He is the Osha of purity and spiritual cleanness. To his followers is tabooto ingest alcoholic beverages, horsemeat, peppers and highly seasonedor spiced foods.
White and sensible foods will provide a longer and comfortable life. He is worshiped in the city of Ifón and he is nativeof Irange, Nigeria. Albinos are his followers.

The Organizing Commission of the Letter of the Year wishes you a happyand prosperous year 2006.Babalawos, priests of Cuban Santería have predicted for 2006 threadsof war, natural catastrophes, sickness and all together such a darkscenario that they convoke for a "National Sacrifice" to safeguard thecommunity.

The Comisión Organizadora de la Letra del Año, one of two babalawo associations, that perform the "Lecture of the Letter of the Year" inCuba, has given alert about the loss of moral values and corruptionand requested Health Organizations to be prepared for the arrival of unknown diseases to science.

"We are in a propitious year, very similar to the one when AIDS and Ebola CAME to be known, for a new disease to science. What we aretrying to achieve" is to take proper measures for the arrival of this sort of disease that may strike Cuba and the world, said VictorBetancourt, one of the babalawos who made the announcement.

This prediction indicates that there shall be an increase in criminal activities, breaking of agreements and a high incidence of moraldeformation, promiscuity at homes, a high level of corruption,increase in violence, danger of droughts and warns of weather changesand their "fatal consequences".

The Letter of the Year is so dark that santeros are to perform onFebruary 12 an important ceremony with animal sacrifices, and haverequested the collaboration of all babalawos of the country.

The priest Lázaro Cuesta stated that "due to what this sign determinesand the magnitude of the danger it withholds" this year the sacrificeshall be made in a more public manner, that will include placingflowerpots with nails "with the aim to preserve ourselves from theattacks, both human and from Nature".

The symbols will be placed in different points of the city, as an armyof "invisible soldiers" that are to protect people from the "invasion"."By invasion we are not talking about an army of armed soldiers, butabout an army of vices, disease and weather changes" he affirmed whenpointing out that the symbols of protection will "not necessarily" areto be visible.Santeros, followers of the Afro-Cuban religion known as "Ifá Worship",explained that "neither these sacrifices nor the animal heads to beplaced are a menace to public health".

"On the contrary, we are convinced that they may preventconfrontations and foreign wars", he said.For this prediction were present priests from different countries:Colombia, Costa Rica, España, México, Panamá, Sweden, Uruguay,Venezuela, Belgium, Brazil, USA, Hungary, England, Italy, Norway andSwiss who left a great task ahead for 2006 to the Regent Divinity,Obatalá, who represents Olodumare (Supreme One) on Earth.

Alongside Obatalá, as Accompanying Divinity, Oshún, protector of love and children is present; she is identified with the Virgin of LaCaridad del Cobre, Patroness of Cuba in the Catholic religion.In spite that for the other organization that performs the reading ofthe Letter of the Year, the Asociación Cultural Yoruba de Cuba(Cultural Yoruba Association of Cuba), the regent divinity is Oggún(who is identified with Saint Peter in the Catholic religion) whodefends homes and roads, both concur with Oshún's company.

The lectures are similar, with warnings about health, attention tonatural phenomena, children's education and avoidance of violence, asweb as fidelity and fulfillment of commitments.Both organizations concur on the risk of treason and the lack offulfillment of acquired compromises.

The Commission for the Lecture of the Year warned that in 2006 "the road leading to a neighboring land became long" making reference topossible trouble between neighbors."We are close to USA, practically a neighbor country, and agreements may be broken; perhaps those about emigration" said Betancourt.
